Woodturning - Split and Spalted Ash
Переглядів 135 тис.14 днів тому
In this woodturning video, I fill a large split in a cool piece of Spalted Ash with epoxy and turn a hollow form.. The original plan was to keep the natural edge on this piece but the bark was loose and I thought it would be better to spin it and show off the filled split.. Woodturning Kindling - I suppose it was always going to be 💩
Переглядів 123 тис.Місяць тому
I recently had a log delivery, along with a couple of bags of kindling, I also had some resin that needed using up, so I'm afraid I couldn't resist whacking them together to make the most beautiful hollow form I've ever made 🤣 or is it 💩 I cant make my mind up... Woodturning - An Unknown Crotch Log !!
Переглядів 123 тис.Місяць тому
In this woodturning video I turn an unknown crotch log, which didn't smell very nice at all while turning it. As usual I didn't have much of a plan to start with but thought the wood was quite bland so added a bit of colour and texturing to the inside, it ended up a lot cooler than I thought it would.. If anyone's got any idea what the wood is let me know in the comments.. My website , shop and...
Beautiful Burl but Hard as Hell !!
Переглядів 38 тис.Місяць тому
In this UA-cam video, I turn a winged bowl from a Mallee burl. It's definitely one of the coolest burls to look at in my opinion but is extremely hard and dense, which means it can be tricky to turn, but well worth the effort.. Pencil Turning - Better than the last one ??
Переглядів 3 млн2 місяці тому
This is my second attempt at making a globe from coloured pencils. In the first one, I left the oceans as the pencils and used a black resin for the continents, I wasn't that pleased with how it turned out so here's my attempt at a better version. Woodturning - A Piece for Netflix !!
Переглядів 137 тис.3 місяці тому
Blink and you'll miss it !! I was contacted a couple of years ago by the prop master of the new Netflix Sci fi film Rebel Moon. They wanted me to make 2 smaller versions of the Black Palm End grain Sphere that I made, to be used in the film. They wanted them around 3" in diameter so they could fit in the palm of the hand, this made them a lot harder to make, but I thought they maybe would be us...
Woodturning - I Think I Messed Up !!
Переглядів 38 тис.3 місяці тому
In this woodturning video I turn a natural edge bowl from a Birch burl and finished it with Danish oil.. I think I'm usually pretty good at utilising a burl to its full potential, but I think I wasted to much of the burl on this piece. I got pretty much the look that I wanted to get and I do think its cool but if I had gone with some kind of vessel it would have showed off more of the burl rath...
Woodturning - The Root of all Evil !!
Переглядів 64 тис.3 місяці тому
This rootball had been dumped in a layby not far from our local tip by some dirty fly tipper - UK meaning ( a person who deliberately dumps rubbish in an unauthorized place ) I thought it would be interesting to turn, so I cleaned up their mess and took it home , it wasn't too bad to turn but the sanding took twice as long as the turning. I was really pleased with how it turned out and glad I k...
Woodturning - Melted and Stretched !!

In this Woodturning video I take a Birch log from the firewood pile and turn another goblet to add to my weird goblet collection!! I stained the piece down slightly to make it seem more organic and to me it looks like it has been melted and stretched, I used a clear lacquer finish.. I really like that you didn’t fill in the burls and “imperfections” with epoxy. The gaps in the wood really added nice character to the finished piece.

Was that a stroke of luck, or did you "see it coming" when you looked at the original piece? I mean, obviously you can't tell which directions the grain decided to go on the inside, but the face looking motif, was that obvious to you?

Wow! Andy this piece is simply amazing a great job! I liked the gouge cam angle a great deal, hardly any shake to the picture and was a smashing perspective. Youve instilled some ideas as all we woodturners can do is look at a lump of wood and think which way it will go. Your easy steady is also a great , been thinking about one myself. Thanks for your video! Cheers
